Position Overview

The Department of the Navy is seeking a dedicated professional to serve as a Systems Assurance and Security Engineer. In this role, you will be recognized as a leading authority and consultant in technical disciplines pertinent to the engineering and integration of critical weapon systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as an expert in formulating, assessing, and promoting innovative theories and practices in resilient Hardware and Software Engineering.
  • Provide guidance and implement best practices in System Engineering and System Security Engineering, focusing on Supply Chain Risk Management, Hardware Assurance, Software Assurance, and Cybersecurity.
  • Apply risk mitigation strategies and countermeasures throughout the lifecycle of systems acquisitions, procurement, and performance.
  • Conduct processes related to vendor illumination, software forensics, counterfeit prevention, and secure handling of materials.
  • Engage with intelligence community entities to address vulnerabilities and conduct threat assessments.
Requirements

To qualify for this position, candidates must:

  • Be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Pass federal employment suitability checks.
  • Participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • Obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance.
Qualifications

Applicants should demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NH-03 (GS-13) level in the Federal service or comparable experience in the private sector. This experience should include:

  • Working across various engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, computer, etc.) to manage technical requirements and lead security engineering projects for weapon systems.
Education

Candidates must possess a professional engineering degree from an accredited institution or meet specific educational criteria as outlined by the Office of Personnel Management.

Additional Information

This position is part of the Department of Defense Civilian Acquisition Workforce Personnel Demonstration Project, and it may require working uncommon hours, including nights and weekends, to fulfill mission requirements.
