Highway Construction Support Specialist

Job Summary:
This is a technical support role that assists higher-level inspectors and engineers on assignments related to highway and bridge construction inspection. The employee will perform a range of routine duties under technical and administrative supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct independent routine and standardized inspections of construction processes and materials to ensure compliance with the construction contract.
- Inspect truck load tickets for roadway aggregate base course, borrow material, and asphaltic concrete at project field sites.
- Perform simple materials sampling, inspection, and/or testing.
- Responsible for contract administrative duties, including field measurements of pay item quantities and other Department required documentation.
- Perform highly complex technical assignments in the field.
- Make and check engineering computations, inspect construction work, and conduct field tests.
- Coordinate and manage lower-level inspectors.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
A high school graduate or equivalent is required. Strong MS Word and Excel skills are a plus.
