Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our Military Solutions team. This role involves designing and developing innovative products, as well as enhancing and supporting our existing offerings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop new products while refining existing ones, ensuring adherence to budgetary limits and customer specifications.
  • Choose appropriate materials and collaborate with Manufacturing to determine assembly methods.
  • Order necessary parts, tools, and services.
  • Investigate customer returns to identify root causes and implement corrective actions as part of the 8D quality process.
  • Provide technical support to the Sales Department for accurate quotations.
  • Assist manufacturing teams during initial builds and engage in core APQP processes, including FMEAs and control plans.
  • Support product validation through the creation of test plans and setups, and assist in testing activities.
  • Generate 3D models and 2D CAD drawings for supplier exchange, adhering to the Grayhill ECN process.
  • Follow established CAD procedures for drawing management.
  • Propose new product ideas and enhancements to current offerings.
  • Collaborate with sales and operations on new product initiatives and provide support for existing products.
  • Engage with customers to clarify design goals and relay updates to the Sales Department.
  • Recommend suppliers and external resources for technical insights to achieve design objectives.
  • Evaluate parts, assemblies, and tooling for acceptance.
  • Deliver technical assistance to both internal and external clients.
  • Comply with Grayhill's production release protocols.
  • Mentor and guide team members involved in projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Proficiency in CAD software.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience in design engineering.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with PTC Creo solid modeling and PDM environments.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of engaging effectively across all organizational levels.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative and creative team environment.
  • Hands-on experience in mechanical engineering, particularly in production and design.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as plastic injection molding and machining.
  • Experience in customer and supplier interactions.
  • Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA).
  • Familiarity with SAP software.
