Fiscal Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Fiscal Manager to join our team at Maricopa Community College District. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the Student Business Services (SBS) operations, including student accounts, collections, third-party billing, cashiering, and non-financial aid grant processing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide customer service to students and employees, responding to complex or escalated issues.
  • Manage the SBS department, leading the work of temporary staff, managing full-time staff, and scheduling staff to ensure coverage for opening and closing the office.
  • Represent EMCC at district SBS meetings, providing recommendations and process improvement strategies.
  • Oversee cash management functions and related record-keeping.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure fiscal integrity of student accounts.
  • Collaborate with the Fiscal Services Director to supervise Fiscal Services staff and assist with process improvements.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • Five years of full-time equivalent professional level experience in operational planning, administration, and oversight of assigned fiscal services business unit.
  • Two years of supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Five years of supervisory experience in a business office in higher education or government organization.
  • Five years of experience using online financial reporting systems, such as Student Information System (SIS) and Financial Management System (FMS).
  • Five years of fiscal experience related to student business services (cashiering).
  • Five years of experience providing a high level of customer service.
  • Five years of experience with cash handling procedures and reconciling accounts.
