Electromagnetics Engineer

Overview

The Electromagnetics group at General Dynamics Electric Boat is seeking highly skilled Electrical/Computer Engineering and Physics candidates to join our team in the areas of Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Control, and Underwater Electromagnetics (UEM).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support EMC, ESD, and UEM work for all electrical systems on all submarine platforms.
  • Analyze electromagnetic coupling and potential electromagnetic interference (EMI) problems on submarine systems.
  • Develop and implement ESD requirements via the company-wide ESD control program.
  • Conduct technical evaluations for potentially damaged equipment.
  • Support the development of systems and methods that reduce electromagnetic signature.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Physics (with electrical focus).
  • Related technical disciplines with strong electromagnetic/electrical experience will be considered as well.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Practical/theoretical EMC or ESD experience, particularly with requirements associated with MIL-STD-461, DOD-STD-1399 Section 070, NAVSEA S9407-AB-HBK-010, ANSI/ESD S20.20, IEC, or MIL-STD-1686.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and possess skills that permit independent functioning without significant oversight.
