Position: Building Engineer - Union - Day Shift

Overview:

The Building Engineer is accountable for the operation, maintenance, and repair of various mechanical and electrical systems within the facility. This role requires physical strength and the ability to work in diverse environmental conditions. The engineer will respond to service requests and manage emergency situations effectively. Additionally, this position involves supervising utility mechanics and ensuring routine maintenance tasks are completed efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical, electrical, and control systems, including air handling units, pumps, and motors.
  • Execute the installation of electrical circuits and repair plumbing fixtures.
  • Conduct minor carpentry work, including ceiling tile replacement and door hardware repairs.
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of air handling units to ensure optimal performance.
  • Manage the operation and inspection of emergency generators and related components.
  • Procure necessary materials for maintenance tasks.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance, including filter changes and lubrication.
  • Inspect and document the condition of mechanical and electrical systems, providing reports to supervisors.
  • Fulfill additional duties as required within the scope of the role.
Qualifications:
  • Certification in relevant mechanical trades or trade school disciplines such as HVAC, Electrical, or Plumbing.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in operating central plant equipment and various mechanical systems.
  • Proven ability to repair building electrical and plumbing systems.
  • Experience in safely securing systems for maintenance.
  • Basic carpentry skills and familiarity with building auxiliary systems.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate vehicles as necessary.
  • Strong understanding of safe work practices in maintenance operations.
  • Physical capability to perform demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects and working in confined spaces.
