Position Summary:

The Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the seamless operation of the maintenance department, focusing on the aesthetic and functional integrity of the hotel. This position encompasses the management of maintenance and safety programs, which include procurement, preventive maintenance, equipment repairs, and oversight of hotel security and life safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver outstanding customer service consistently, embodying the Guest Service Standards.
  • Oversee and coordinate the maintenance staff's activities, ensuring adherence to established procedures and quality expectations.
  • Optimize scheduling to meet financial targets while maintaining high product standards.
  • Manage departmental budgets and control expenses related to maintenance contracts and utilities.
  • Contribute to the development of the annual operating budget and capital plans aligned with the hotel's objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant company policies and local regulations to maintain a safe and clean environment for guests and staff.
  • Maintain the operational efficiency of the hotel's systems, including life safety, telecommunications, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Promptly address maintenance requests, ensuring courteous and efficient service.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of maintenance department staff.
  • Regularly communicate with management regarding the condition of the hotel's facilities and propose cost-effective maintenance solutions.
  • Supervise external contractors engaged in maintenance activities.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent required. A minimum of one year of experience in a guest service role is preferred. Familiarity with hotel brands such as Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham, or Hyatt is advantageous.

Skills Required:

  • Proficient in the primary language used in the workplace.
  • Strong reading and writing skills for effective communication.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computational and computer skills are necessary.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems, plumbing, and electrical maintenance is essential.
  • Understanding of federal, state, and local laws related to employment and safety regulations.
