Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Advanced Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant to join our team in the Cardiac Care Unit at Hackensack Meridian Health. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality patient care, collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals, and contribute to the development of evidence-based practice protocols.

Responsibilities
  • Provide medical assessments, treatments, and clearances for patients, employees, and external customers, adhering to regulatory standards and company policies.
  • Deliver clinical care that reflects current medical standards, NJ Board of Medical Examiners regulations, and HMH policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans of care, facilitating patient teaching and support programs.
  • Evaluate current protocols and standards of care, translating best practices into clinical practice.
  • Apply evidence-based practices to achieve positive patient outcomes, prescribing medications and recommending over-the-counter medications as needed.
  • Initiate laboratory tests, immunizations, and diagnostic tests/procedures, demonstrating competent clinical skills.
  • Collaborate with physicians and consult with other healthcare team members, demonstrating effective communication skills.
  • Provide accurate, systematic, and organized documentation of findings, recommendations, and education.
  • Participate in continuing education, maintaining documentation and developing a personal plan of development in clinical expertise.
  • Provide culturally diverse and educationally appropriate education, serving as a clinical resource to nursing staff, patients, and other team members.
  • Participate in policy/procedure reviews, promoting excellence in care and clinical outcomes.
  • Act as a resource to staff for addressing clinical, process, and system opportunities for improvement.
  • Promote a collaborative work environment, supporting the organizational mission, behavior expectations, and values.
  • Promote innovation within clinical practice, seeking opportunities to bring new clinical knowledge into practice.
  • Identify ethical care issues and coordinate interdisciplinary collaborative meetings to resolve those issues.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an NLN/AACN accredited program in nursing.
  • Masters Degree.
  • Maintains clinical competencies through continuing educational programs and clinical practice, as mandated by the Board of Nursing and national certification body.
  • Experience in relevant patient care settings or as regulations dictate.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Prepared Advanced Practice Nurse.
  • Minimum of 3 years professional experience.
  • Strong organizational and computer skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and effective interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to multiple and changing priorities.

Required Licenses and Certifications:

  • NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License.
  • Advanced Practice Nurse Certification (with Master's Degree).
  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.

Preferred Licenses and Certifications:

  • CPR Certification.
