Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Advanced Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant at Hackensack Meridian Health plays a vital role in providing high-quality patient care to critically ill newborns. As a member of the interdisciplinary team, you will work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.
Responsibilities- Obtain accurate and detailed patient histories, identify problems, and present information to the supervising physician.
- Chart patient information, including admission notes, history and physical examinations, consultations, and daily patient encounter notes.
- Prescribe medications under the supervision of a licensed physician, adhering to federal and state laws and regulations.
- Assist supervising surgeons in the operating room and assist with procedures in the procedure room.
- Write post-operative/post-procedure notes and orders for the supervising physician.
- Act as a first-line person responsible for post-procedure management of patients.
- Start IVs, insert foley catheters, and perform other medical procedures as needed.
- Exhibit organizational, communication, and leadership skills, initiative, accountability, responsibility, and decision-making.
- Graduate of an NLN/AACN accredited program in nursing or successful completion of an approved physician's assistant program.
- Master's degree required for Advanced Practice Nurses.
- Valid NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License or Physician Assistant License.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification required.
