RCN Capital, LLC is a nationwide, direct, private lender specializing in providing financing solutions for real estate investors focused on non-owner-occupied single-family and multi-family properties.

We are in search of a Software Engineering Lead, responsible for steering our development team and shaping our technological advancements.

In this pivotal position, you will facilitate our shift towards a contemporary, cloud-centric infrastructure while integrating AI technologies for document processing, categorization, and business optimization.

Collaborating closely with product managers, quality assurance experts, and reporting directly to the VP of Technology, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our technical framework.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Guide the global engineering team, enforcing best practices, evaluating code quality, and ensuring a high level of technical proficiency.
  • Work effectively with product managers and QA experts to create robust, scalable, and high-quality solutions.
  • Supervise the development, enhancement, and upkeep of our PHP-driven loan origination system.
  • Lead the migration of our legacy systems to a cloud-based environment utilizing platforms such as AWS or Azure.
  • Engage with stakeholders to gather system requirements and ensure the delivery of appropriate technical solutions.
  • Provide regular updates to the VP of Technology regarding project status, challenges encountered, and recommend strategies for enhancements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

Essential Skills:

  • Proficient in PHP, JavaScript, and related web technologies.
  • Experience with cloud services, particularly AWS or Azure.
  • Familiarity with modern software development practices, including Agile and Scrum methodologies.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities, with the ability to inspire and guide a technical team.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of AI technologies related to document processing, classification, and business automation.
  • Experience with contemporary technologies and frameworks such as Angular, React, etc.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including product managers and QA experts.
  • Strong project management capabilities.

Required Experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in PHP development with demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Proven track record in transitioning from legacy systems to modern cloud-based infrastructures.

Preferred Experience:

  • Prior experience in the mortgage or financial services sector.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing AI technologies for business process automation.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Master's degree preferred in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
