Position Overview:

As a Senior Systems Software Engineer at Nightwing, you will play a crucial role in the advancement of cutting-edge embedded software for both military and commercial aviation sectors. Your expertise will contribute to the design, development, and validation of real-time embedded systems, ensuring the highest standards of safety and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate within a dynamic team environment, engaging in the complete software development lifecycle, from planning and design to verification of environmental and airframe control systems.
  • Enhance and refine systems and software engineering processes to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Act as a liaison with certification authorities to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Engage with key stakeholders throughout the software product lifecycle to ensure alignment and satisfaction.
  • Coordinate and manage tasks effectively within the engineering team.
  • Conduct software design, development, and verification activities.
  • Review software requirements to ensure they meet customer specifications.
  • Implement software requirements using design models and proprietary coding languages.
  • Evaluate software design and code to ensure adherence to established requirements.
  • Generate, execute, and assess test scripts and data to support software verification activities.
  • Create documentation to facilitate aerospace certification processes.

Learning Opportunities:

  • Gain experience working collaboratively in a team setting, mastering full lifecycle development as a proficient software engineer.
  • Contribute to the expansion of our software engineering capabilities, focusing on enhancing customer satisfaction related to quality, timelines, processes, and costs.
  • Support software certifications for commercial aircraft, assist in customer investigations, and troubleshoot existing software applications.

Required Qualifications:

  • A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with at least 3 years of experience, or 9 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Must be a U.S. Person or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in software requirements and verification for complex aerospace systems.
  • Familiarity with aerospace certification standards, including DO-178.
  • Proficiency in simulation, scripting, test automation, and documentation tools (e.g., Veristand/LabView, MATLAB/Simulink, Python, DOORS).
  • Experience with Agile methodologies.
  • Strong communication skills with a background in presenting technical information.
  • Previous experience in the aerospace industry.
