Job Overview

The Family Support Specialist role involves collaborating with various community organizations, child welfare agencies, educational institutions, and law enforcement to advocate for vulnerable children and families. This position focuses on conducting essential needs assessments, providing preventive and intervention services, and monitoring progress to establish suitable treatment plans. The specialist will educate and assist clients in implementing effective life skills while ensuring meticulous documentation of all client interactions and timely submission of required reports.


Essential Qualifications:

To excel as a Family Support Specialist at Peace Community Services, LLC, candidates should possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Ability to maintain comprehensive progress notes.
  • Capability to file ongoing reports as mandated.
  • Willingness to travel between appointments to serve clients in their communities.
  • A valid driver's license and insurance coverage.
  • Familiarity with state social service systems.
  • Strong and effective communication skills.
  • Understanding and adherence to current confidentiality standards.
  • Respect for and ability to respond to cultural diversity.
  • Ability to cultivate and sustain relevant professional networks.
  • Proficient in prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Fulfill the duties associated with supervised visits for families.
  • Support parents in developing fundamental parenting and household management skills.
  • Engage with clients consistently, adhering to the frequency outlined in referrals.
  • Provide ongoing assistance to clients, including emergency and crisis support within a 24-hour timeframe.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of all client interactions, including monthly reports, court documentation, and treatment plans.
  • Exhibit respect and cultural sensitivity towards all clients and referral sources.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality to safeguard client information.
  • Achieve and uphold CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Deliver services effectively and efficiently, with documented evidence for each.

Additional Duties:
  • Ensure that visits with parents are appropriate and that children are safeguarded.
  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness and proper care for infants.
  • Accompany clients to court as needed.
  • Provide transportation for clients when necessary to meet treatment goals.
  • Submit documentation punctually.
  • Report significant incidents to the referral source or supervisor.
  • Coordinate services for clients and connect them with relevant community resources.
  • Assist clients in advocating for themselves, teaching, coaching, demonstrating, monitoring, and role modeling new skills to enhance self-sufficiency.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and the ability to use a personal vehicle for transportation.
  • Compliance with state policy regarding minimum car insurance coverage.

Education Requirements:
  • High School diploma or higher.
