Fiscal Accounts Technician II Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Fiscal Accounts Technician II to join our team at the Maryland Department of Transportation. This role is responsible for preparing invoices for the recovery of costs associated with third-party damages to state property, as well as recovering costs related to traffic control services and cleanup services provided by SHA.

The successful candidate will receive directions from a team leader regarding the cancellation of debts through the MDOT Standard Accounting and Reporting System (MSTARS), the transfer of debts for collection by the Central Collections Unit (CCU) through the CCU database, the distribution of Maryland's motor vehicle crash reports, the filing of claims with insurance companies, and the filing and storage of records.

This position will also be responsible for recording billed invoices and paid invoices in the Claim Database and the Crash Report Management System (CRMS). Additional responsibilities include making deposits into the SHA's Payroll Revolving Account as well as writing checks from and making deposits into the Working Fund, the Special Right of Way, and the Tenants Escrow Fund.

This position is responsible for assisting in the reconciliation of the Working Fund account monthly.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare invoices for the recovery of costs associated with third-party damages to state property

Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate
  • One (1) year of experience reconciling agency accounting systems to fiscal control systems or developing automated spreadsheets, ledgers, and reports using accounting software packages or identifying budget trends and recommending budget realignments
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel
