About the Role

This is an exceptional opportunity to work at the forefront of the clean energy transition, contributing to the shaping of New York's future clean energy infrastructure. As a Senior Technology Planning Specialist, you will play a key role in steering the integration of cutting-edge storage projects, helping to set terms that optimize both grid functionality and wholesale market operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Technical Analyses: Evaluate proposed projects from an engineering perspective, providing guidance on contract terms and structuring future competitive procurement opportunities.
  • NERC Compliance: Review and assess NERC requirements and compliance, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Project Location and Procurement: Provide guidance on project location opportunities and procurement structure based on the unique characteristics of Con Edison's transmission and distribution system.
  • Contract Evaluation: Evaluate present contracts and procurements based on engineering principles and system design, providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Regulatory Proceedings: Provide guidance regarding ongoing regulatory proceedings from an engineering perspective, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
  • New Project Opportunities: Support analysis of new project opportunities for both third-party and utility-owned storage, developing a deep understanding of project feasibility and potential.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in engineering or a related field, with 3 years of related work experience, or Master's Degree in engineering or a related field, with 2 years of related work experience.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of utility electrical systems, energy storage systems, and software applications such as MS Office.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with the Department of Public Service (DPS) state regulatory process and related statutes, such as the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Engineering: A Master's Degree in engineering or a related field, with 2 years of related work experience.
  • Experience in Contract Negotiation: Experience in negotiating contracts for energy purchase and/or storage dispatch rights.
Skills and Abilities
  • Effective Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to drive multiple projects to successful completion.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
