Position Summary: The role involves delivering therapeutic services to patients of varying ages facing vision difficulties, with the goal of enhancing or developing visual skills impacted by conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, developmental vision issues, binocular vision disorders, and learning disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop personalized treatment plans, including weekly home exercises, under the supervision of an optometrist.
  • Prepare and document patient charts before and after each therapy session.
  • Manage a fluctuating caseload of 10-20 patients.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and guidance to fellow therapists.
  • Engage in continuing education to maintain all necessary licenses.
  • Communicate with the optometrist regarding patient progress, needs, and concerns.
  • Foster a warm and supportive environment while upholding professionalism.
  • Assist the optometrist with testing during vision assessments.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • This position may also involve participating in patient intake and scheduling tasks.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Certification as a COVT is preferred but not mandatory.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in vision therapy or a related therapeutic field (e.g., physical, occupational, vestibular therapy).
  • Familiarity with basic vision testing methods and programs (e.g., DEM, Groffman, King Devick, visual fields).
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Attention to detail is essential.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Excel, and Word, with experience in practice management software.
  • Experience working with individuals facing vision challenges.
  • Understanding of the visual system's anatomy and its connection to the brain, along with common vision diagnoses (e.g., amblyopia, convergence issues, strabismus).
  • Basic knowledge of primitive reflexes.
Work Environment:
  • Office setting.
  • Compensation range: $22.00-$25.00 per hour, based on experience.
