Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop personalized treatment plans, including weekly home exercises, under the supervision of an optometrist.
  • Prepare and document patient charts before and after each therapy session.
  • Manage a variable caseload of 10-20 patients.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to fellow therapists.
  • Engage in continuing education to maintain all required licenses.
  • Communicate with the optometrist regarding patient progress, needs, and concerns.
  • Foster a warm and supportive environment while upholding professional standards.
  • Assist the optometrist with assessments during vision evaluations.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Occasionally assist with patient intake and scheduling tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Certification as a COVT is preferred but not mandatory.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in vision therapy or related therapeutic fields (e.g., physical, occupational, vestibular therapy).
  • Familiarity with basic vision testing and assessment tools (e.g., DEM, Groffman, King Devick, visual fields).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Excel, and Word, as well as experience with practice management software.
  • Experience working with individuals with vision challenges.
  • Understanding of the visual system, its anatomy, and its relationship to the brain, along with common vision disorders (e.g., amblyopia, convergence issues, strabismus).
  • Basic knowledge of primitive reflexes.

Work Environment:

  • Office setting.
  • Compensation range: $22.00-$25.00 per hour, based on experience.
