Position Overview: Surgical Technologist II

As a Surgical Technologist II, you will play a crucial role in the surgical team by preparing and maintaining the sterile field, handling instruments, and ensuring that all necessary supplies are readily available. You will assist in the care of surgical patients and support the surgical team throughout the procedure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Anticipate and respond to the needs of the surgeon and surgical team by monitoring the sterile field.
  • Demonstrate proper handling of surgical instruments and equipment.
  • Identify potential intraoperative complications and address them effectively.
  • Assist in maintaining adequate inventory of surgical supplies and instruments.
  • Utilize performance improvement principles to enhance the quality of patient care.
  • Set personal growth and development goals, meeting all educational requirements.
  • Maintain competency in safety standards relevant to job performance.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program or equivalent.
  • Adherence to continuing education standards as defined by the AST Continuing Education Guidelines (60 credits for a four-year renewal cycle).

Experience:

  • At least one year of experience as a Surgical Technologist.

Certifications and Licenses:

  • Preferred: Liaison Council on Certification for Surgical Technologists.
  • CPR certification required upon hire.
