We are currently seeking a Quality Engineering Technician to contribute to a leading company specializing in custom injection molding. This role offers an excellent opportunity for professional development within a supportive environment.

Shift Availability: 2nd or 3rd shift

Position Overview:

As a Quality Engineering Technician, your primary responsibility will be to support various departments in ensuring that products align with customer expectations and internal standards. This will involve new mold qualification, developing measurement techniques, creating inspection protocols, and engaging in metrology tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

METROLOGY

  • Conduct part inspections (both dimensional and visual) as instructed.
  • Develop, troubleshoot, and enhance inspection processes utilizing vision systems and CT scanners.
  • Prepare sample components for analysis.
  • Design and source part staging fixtures.

NEW PRODUCT INTRODUCTION & CUSTOMER SUPPORT

  • Assist engineering and manufacturing teams in approving new tooling as required.
  • Perform and update First Article Inspection (FAI) layouts, including verification and reporting.
  • Conduct and document dimensional studies, including Gage Repeatability & Reproducibility (GR&R) and Capability Studies.
  • Coordinate Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) reporting and customer submissions with Quality Engineering.
  • Engage in special customer projects as directed.
  • Investigate customer issues as directed by the Quality Engineer or Quality Manager.

DOCUMENTATION & SUSTAINING PRODUCT SUPPORT

  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing to address existing product challenges.
  • Create and maintain various quality documentation (e.g., Quality Inspection Plans - QIP, quality alerts, work instructions, and other manufacturing documents).
  • Develop and uphold quality procedures and work instructions as directed by the Quality Engineer or Quality Manager.
  • Review and number part prints, maintaining a comprehensive part print database and files.
  • Prepare charts for historical data analysis.
  • Execute necessary functions within the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process.
  • Update ISO documentation as directed and approved by the Quality Engineer or Quality Manager.
  • Conduct gauge calibration, oversee external calibration, and maintain calibration records.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, whether individually or as part of a team.
  • Provide training to Quality Department personnel as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Effective communication skills in English (both verbal and written).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently as well as in a team setting.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
  • Positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Consistent ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Professionalism and confidentiality in job performance.
  • Basic understanding of standard drafting practices, including Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience or education in the injection molding or plastics industry within a quality control capacity, with familiarity with OGP systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general computer skills.
  • Commitment to safety and maintaining a clean work environment.

Compensation: Pay based on experience.
