Key Responsibilities
  • Perform visual assessments of metal products or components throughout various stages of the fabrication or manufacturing process to detect defects, inconsistencies, or non-conformities.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments, such as calipers, micrometers, or gauges, to conduct dimensional measurements and confirm product accuracy against specifications.
  • Apply non-destructive testing methods, including ultrasonic testing or magnetic particle inspection, to uncover internal defects or structural anomalies.
  • Execute surface evaluations using techniques like dye penetrant testing or visual inspections under optimal lighting conditions.
  • Conduct mechanical tests, such as hardness testing or tensile testing, to evaluate the strength and mechanical properties of metals.
  • Adhere to established inspection protocols, checklists, or work instructions to ensure accurate and consistent evaluations.
  • Document and record inspection findings, including any identified defects or non-compliance, using appropriate reporting tools or databases.

Qualifications and Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical or vocational training in metallurgy, quality assurance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience in quality control or inspection roles within a metal fabrication or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of metal materials, alloys, manufacturing processes, and quality control techniques.
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring tools, such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, or non-destructive testing equipment.
  • Understanding of metallurgical principles and mechanical testing methods.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, or quality standards.
  • Basic understanding of statistical process control (SPC) principles and data analysis.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and analyze quality issues.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • 2+ years in metal quality control required.
  • Background check required.
  • Steel toe boots required.
