Job Overview

Salary Range: $70-80K

Position Summary
The Mechanical Estimator plays a crucial role in formulating and delivering bid documentation while accurately assessing job costs. This position is essential for providing detailed information that enables Project Managers to execute projects profitably.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present comprehensive bid documents.
  • Actively engage in daily operations, ensuring precise and efficient processing of work within company systems.
  • Support the finance team as required.

Work Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of estimating experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge and Skills
    • Self-motivated and proactive.
    • Proficient in estimating software and its application within company protocols.
    • At least 2 years of experience in HVAC systems.
    • Ability to comprehend and communicate detailed instructions effectively.
    • Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
  • Physical Demands
    • Visual acuity for prolonged computer use.
    • Full range of hearing for effective communication.
    • Clear speech for interaction with staff and clients.
    • Physical activities include standing, walking, and sitting throughout the workday, along with lifting materials over 50 pounds.

Work Environment

  • Primarily office-based with low to moderate noise levels.
  • Occasional exposure to outdoor conditions when reviewing job sites and meeting clients.
  • A valid driver's license is required for site visits.

Reporting Structure

  • This position reports directly to the President.

Authority and Responsibilities

  • Plan project activities to ensure accuracy, quality, and timely performance of bids.
  • Compile material lists for vendor pricing and maintain timelines for bid submissions.
  • Take necessary actions to fulfill job responsibilities while adhering to safety and company policies.

Primary Duties

  • Analyze project documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates.
  • Generate estimates for management planning and vendor selection.
  • Review data to determine material and labor needs, preparing detailed itemized lists.
  • Consult with clients and vendors to finalize estimates and address any concerns.
  • Ensure timely submission of bids and conduct peer reviews for accuracy.
  • Assess historical job data to inform future estimates.
  • Engage with subcontractors for quotes and evaluate bids for suitability.
  • Document and analyze unsuccessful bids to improve future performance.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to Project Managers as needed.
