District Environmental Services:
In this capacity, you will:
1. Conduct regulatory inspections of food facilities, public pools, mobile home parks, and related establishments.
2. Investigate public complaints regarding foodborne illnesses and other health-related issues.
3. Collect samples for laboratory analysis and instruct facility operators on health and safety protocols.
Hazardous Materials Management:
Your responsibilities will also include:
1. Conducting inspections of hazardous waste facilities to ensure compliance with applicable laws.
2. Overseeing the mitigation of hazardous substance releases during emergencies.
3. Maintaining records of inspections and collaborating with agencies for joint inspections.
Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, candidates must possess:
1. A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with relevant coursework.
2. A valid Letter of Eligibility or a certificate of registration as an Environmental Health Specialist, as required by the California Department of Public Health.
3. A valid California Driver's License.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
This role requires:
1. Mobility to navigate various field environments, including construction sites and hazardous materials facilities.
2. The ability to lift and carry equipment and materials as needed.
3. Tolerance for exposure to diverse environmental conditions and the capacity to wear personal protective equipment.
