Job Summary:

The EC Adapted Curriculum Teacher will be responsible for developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with moderate to severe cognitive disabilities. This will involve creating and delivering adapted curriculum to meet the unique needs of each student, as well as collaborating with other educators to ensure a comprehensive educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement IEPs for students with moderate to severe cognitive disabilities
  • Create and deliver adapted curriculum to meet the unique needs of each student
  • Collaborate with other educators to ensure a comprehensive educational environment
  • Use research-based instructional techniques and technology to meet the needs of students
  • Administer and interpret individual educational testing
  • Design and implement environmental modifications and management procedures to address student behavioral expectations
  • Utilize functional behavioral assessment (FBA) and analysis to identify the function of inappropriate student behavior
  • Develop behavioral intervention plans (BIPs) and IEP goals and objectives based on the function of the inappropriate behavior
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field
  • Valid North Carolina Teaching License in content-specific area
  • Ability to work with students with moderate to severe cognitive disabilities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Working Conditions:

The EC Adapted Curriculum Teacher will work in a classroom setting and will be required to sit and stand for extended periods of time. The teacher will also be required to lift, carry, push, or pull light weights up to 30 pounds, including wheelchairs. The work environment will be moderately noisy, and the teacher will be required to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions.
