Job Title: Special Education Teacher - Early Childhood Services

We are seeking a highly qualified and skilled Special Education Teacher to join our team at Providence Public Schools District (PPSD). As an ECS teacher, you will work with students with moderate to severe language, learning, behavioral, and/or social skills deficits, providing specially designed instruction and coordinating services to meet their Individual Educational Programs (IEPs).

Responsibilities:
  • Administer district curriculum aligned with Rhode Island State Standards
  • Provide specially designed instruction to students with disabilities in various settings
  • Work collaboratively with general education teachers and paraprofessionals using the co-teaching model
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities
  • Complete quarterly progress reports and ensure goals and objectives are implemented
  • Ensure a supportive learning environment and create a positive, orderly, and academically focused classroom
  • Develop and implement behavioral intervention plans as identified by student need
  • Integrate technology into the instructional program
  • Provide individual and group interventions to students in the Response to Intervention Process
  • Implement scientifically-based instruction to support unique academic, social, and behavioral needs
  • Collect, administer, and report progress monitoring data for all student goals
  • Adhere to federal, state, and local mandates in special education
  • Schedule and case manage three-year re-evaluations for students with disabilities
  • Ensure students with disabilities receive a free appropriate education in the least restrictive environment
  • Conduct, implement, and develop alternate assessments consistent with RIDE regulations
  • Participate in district and school-based professional development activities
  • Maintain a web-based portfolio and outcomes data on all assigned pre-k students
  • Develop and provide daily, authentic pre-k learning experiences aligned with RI Early Learning Standards
  • Participate in timely data input services for Medicaid billing and utilize the web-based IEP system
  • Utilize positive behavioral supports as appropriate
  • Work professionally with administrators, staff, parents, and community
  • Develop a classroom climate that promotes positive learning conditions
  • Provide differentiated, developmentally appropriate pre-k learning experiences aligned with RI Early Learning Standards
  • Provide and implement appropriate accommodations for all types of formal assessments
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field of education from an accredited college or university
  • Master's degree preferred
  • RIDE Certification Requirements: All Grades Special Education - Severe Intellectual Disability, Grades PK-12
  • ESL Certification Preferred
