Job Summary

Homewood at Martinsburg is seeking a compassionate and engaging individual to assist in planning and facilitating activities for residents in our long-term care facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Therapeutic Recreation Coordinator to develop and implement individual and group activities that meet the psycho-social needs of residents
  • Assist in scheduling and coordinating activities, including scenic drives, shopping trips, and community events
  • Develop and guide Reality Orientation activities, such as daily announcements and current events
  • Document and chart attendance of all activities and report observed changes in resident's physical and emotional status to the licensed nurse
  • Perform other functions as directed by the supervisor
Requirements
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English well
  • Compassion, understanding, and empathy for older persons
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to listen and communicate with residents at a level they can understand
  • Ability to encourage and motivate older persons
  • Qualities of creativity, resourcefulness, and imagination in planning resident activities
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to drive Homewood's van and have a valid driver's license
  • Experience working with elderly preferred
