Position Overview

LMI is in search of an experienced Logistics Planning and Force Design Consultant to provide support to our client. This role involves a blend of on-site collaboration and remote work. A DoD Secret Clearance is a prerequisite for this position.

The selected candidate will engage with the Headquarters of the Army G-43/5/7's Future Concepts and Force Integration Division, focusing primarily on Total Army Analysis. Familiarity with the Army Logistics organizational framework and a background in planning are essential. The ideal candidate should demonstrate autonomy, uphold high performance standards, possess strong organizational capabilities, be detail-oriented, and operate effectively with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a subject matter expert on U.S. Army sustainment doctrine and force structure.
  • Engage in the Total Army Analysis process, concentrating on sustainment force structure to optimize the force within authorized end strength; develop new capabilities, eliminate unnecessary capabilities, and refine existing capabilities.
  • Conduct evaluations of current and proposed organizational structures to assess changes in capabilities and/or sustainment requirements, identifying gaps and proposing mitigation strategies.
  • Participate in scenario development and execution of exercises and wargames, providing insights on operational feasibility, assessing sustainment impacts, and advising on the logistics force structure necessary for operational support.
  • Coordinate and synchronize key stakeholder activities to sustain momentum on significant initiatives.
  • Analyze and evaluate DoD and U.S. Army logistics and supply chain doctrine to identify gaps and recommend potential enhancements.
  • Review planned placements of new equipment, Component Major Items (CMI), Associated Support Items of Equipment (ASIOE), and personnel, assessing the impacts on support, manning, and transportability for affected organizations.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to clients through written reports and oral presentations.
  • Research relevant topics and prepare briefing materials for senior DoD officials for internal and external audiences, including charts and presentation materials.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, or a related field.
  • Over ten years of experience in DoD logistics, preferably within the Army.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical abilities.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented, capable of adapting to changing priorities and managing multiple tasks.
  • Proven ability to identify client needs and develop solutions with limited oversight.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands from various sources.
  • High energy, enthusiasm, and tact, with the ability to interact effectively with senior executives from both government and industry.
  • Capacity to foster a collaborative work environment, whether in an office or remote setting.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.
  • This position necessitates an active security clearance at the SECRET level. U.S. citizenship is required.

Desired:

  • Experience at higher levels within the Army or Joint Staff, with an understanding of the interrelationships among Under Secretary level staff sections.
  • Background in management consulting.
  • Knowledge of Army Force Management policies and processes.
  • Familiarity with Army equipping policies and processes.
  • Understanding of Army POM development.
