Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Applications Specialist to join our team at the University of California, Irvine. As a key member of our clinical enterprise, you will be responsible for building, implementing, and maintaining the Cardiology Information System within the Epic electronic health record.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage complex Information System projects/products to provide solutions that meet the business needs of the UCI Health System using the Epic solution.
  • Provide support for all computer and information systems activities of the Cardiology and Cath Lab Department.
  • Maintain Epic applications by facilitating updates, new releases, and system enhancements, as well as issue troubleshooting and resolution.
  • Communicate project and team status to internal and external audiences and participate in system technical and application reviews to determine feasibility, cost, and evaluate usefulness for UCI Health System.
  • Assist in recruitment, development, and training of existing and new employees.
Requirements
  • Working knowledge of operations, systems, and functions, including planning, design, development, implementation, user support, and training, maintenance, quality assurance, and system testing and evaluation.
  • Recent and in-depth knowledge of Cardiology and Cath Lab systems function and usage.
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge, and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties.
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
  • Must be willing to participate in 24-hour on-call rotations as a system duty officer.
  • General knowledge and familiarity with theory and practice of Cardiology and Cath Lab medicine.
  • Experience with web development (HTML, CSS, XSL, XSLT, JavaScript).
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills and ability to manage multiple activities and varied deadlines.
  • Epic Cupid Certification.
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in health care information technology, computer science, or related area, and/or equivalent combination of experience/training.
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
  • Ability to function as a project leader and project member.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.
  • Ability to apply logical troubleshooting and analysis techniques for the purpose of problem resolution.
  • 5-7+ years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of University and Medical Center organizations, policies, procedures, and forms.
  • Knowledge of Cardiology and Cath Lab maintenance, including new test builds.
  • Experience with EMR/LIS HL7, Instruments, Middleware, and Point of care interfaces.
  • Experience in Cardiology PACS systems.
  • Experience in Cardiology Echo and diagnostic ECG systems.
