Job Overview

The Safety and Security Officer is accountable for the strategic planning, development, execution, and supervision of safety and security initiatives within the organization. This role requires flexibility to work various shifts and days due to the continuous nature of operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Upholds and enforces all applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
  • Conducts regular foot patrols of designated areas, remaining vigilant for any disturbances, hazards, or suspicious activities.
  • Provides assistance to visitors, staff, and student employees as needed.
  • Performs thorough security and safety inspections of buildings.
  • Addresses complaints and conducts necessary investigations.
  • Facilitates transportation services when required.
  • Investigates incidents involving vehicles on the premises.
  • Issues visitor identification and temporary parking permits.
  • Manages main entrance security duties.
  • Assists in resolving disturbances effectively.
  • Documents incidents and prepares reports as necessary.
  • Oversees the recruitment, selection, and training of security personnel.
  • Contributes to the development and enforcement of safety and fire prevention protocols.
  • Conducts daily briefings with security staff to discuss assignments and procedures.
  • Prepares and delivers written and oral reports to relevant personnel.
  • Ensures proper maintenance of all security equipment.
  • Monitors vehicle traffic entering and exiting the facility.
  • Adheres to established property control policies and procedures.
  • Aims to meet performance standards and objectives.
  • Complies with all regulatory guidelines and organizational policies.
  • Maintains cleanliness and safety in all areas of responsibility.
  • Follows established conduct and safety plans consistently.
  • Supports students in enhancing their employability through ongoing guidance.
  • Embodies and promotes the core values and principles of The Bizzell Group.
  • Models and mentors appropriate career success standards.
  • Participates in mandatory training sessions as required.
  • Ensures student security and accountability during all activities by maintaining a visible presence throughout the facility.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill essential duties effectively.

Experience and Education

Minimum of two years in security, law enforcement, military, or related fields is required. Experience in a residential setting and youth programs is preferred. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with an associate degree being advantageous.
