The primary role of the Retail Operations Leader is to enhance sales performance while serving as a motivating figure and mentor for the team. This individual is dedicated to coaching, nurturing, and inspiring their staff to align with JOANN's mission and vision.

The Retail Operations Leader fosters a supportive atmosphere for both customers and team members, ensuring that financial objectives are met and that every visitor enjoys their experience at JOANN.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

CUSTOMER CONNECTION
Builds enduring relationships with customers by understanding and anticipating their needs.
Acts as a community representative and brand ambassador for JOANN.
Encourages, mentors, and motivates the team to excel as brand ambassadors.
Maintains a keen awareness of product knowledge and stays informed about new merchandise and trends.

OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE
Communicates new strategies, leadership updates, and promotional activities.
Ensures flawless execution of operational guidelines and procedures.
Inspires the team to exceed sales targets by enhancing customer satisfaction.
Develops strategic plans and equips the team with the necessary tools to meet performance indicators.
Responsible for managing inventory logistics and adhering to company protocols.
Oversees the Buy Online Pick Up in Store (BOPIS) process, ensuring order fulfillment and compliance with company standards.
Ensures the accuracy of product placement according to company guidelines.

STRATEGIC THINKING
Stays updated on industry trends and seeks innovative ways to remain competitive.
Adapts to changes and shifts focus as necessary.
Analyzes sales reports to identify trends and formulates strategies to achieve both personal and store objectives.
Utilizes effective models to consistently meet sales goals and company objectives.

TEAM DEVELOPMENT
Guides and motivates the team to improve overall store performance.
Creates an environment of continuous learning while promoting teamwork and recognition among team members.
Develops in-store talent through succession planning and effective performance management.
Engages in recruitment, hiring, and training to meet staffing needs using provided onboarding resources.
Demonstrates a strong customer-centric service approach.
Possesses excellent interpersonal skills and proficient written and verbal communication abilities.
Holds comprehensive knowledge of retail financials and manages profit and loss effectively.
Exhibits a natural curiosity and eagerness to learn and grow.
Acts as a self-starter who promotes initiative and maintains urgency to achieve results.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to stand for extended periods (excluding breaks).
Consistently walk throughout the store during shifts.
Read and interpret written instructions, reports, and information on paper and screens.
Communicate verbally with customers and team members regularly.
Input data using computer keyboards and handheld devices.
Utilize two-way radios for communication.
Handle merchandise with appropriate equipment for movement between backroom and sales floor.
Lift, position, and organize items on shelves and displays.
Bend and reach as necessary.
Climb ladders safely.
Individually lift up to 49 pounds, and collaboratively lift up to 97 pounds (with varying frequency).

SUPERVISORY DUTIES
Oversee all personnel and responsibilities within a multi-unit retail environment, including hiring and training.

AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS
Must be flexible to work various shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Minimum Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred Education:
Bachelor's degree in a related field.
Minimum Experience: 3-5 years of leadership experience in retail.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
Proficient in managing store budgets and labor.
Ability to maintain confidentiality in a retail setting.
Skilled in recruiting and training new team members.
Adaptable with a focus on change management.
Strong coaching and mentoring capabilities.
Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
Exceptional customer service orientation and mindset.
Proficient in inventory management and point-of-sale software.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
