Summary:
Under the supervision of the Clinical Nurse Supervisor, the Registered Nurse will undertake a range of patient care responsibilities, focusing on patient assessment and treatment to enhance comfort and health outcomes. This role also encompasses various administrative tasks as assigned, contributing to the overall efficiency of the Clinical Health Services Department.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Direct Patient Care (85%)
- Deliver comprehensive patient care by applying the nursing process effectively.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, medical history, and current medications.
- Administer medications and perform clinical procedures as per established protocols.
- Collect and process laboratory specimens, ensuring timely communication of results to healthcare providers.
- Evaluate patient needs through triage, both via telephone and in-person, to determine appropriate care levels.
- Assist healthcare providers during various medical procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Facilitate patient education on medical equipment usage, medication management, and health maintenance.
- Follow up with patients who miss appointments to reschedule and address any concerns.
- Support efficient patient flow and scheduling within the clinic.
- Provide translation services as necessary to enhance patient communication.
- Assist in managing patient communications regarding lab results and medication refills.
- Administrative Duties (10%)
- Document all patient interactions and care provided in the medical records accurately for billing and continuity of care.
- Identify and report equipment maintenance needs to the nursing supervisor.
- Engage in educational activities, both individually and in groups, to enhance team knowledge.
- Mentor nursing and medical assistant students as required.
- Conduct follow-ups on patients discharged from emergency services or those with chronic conditions.
- Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned.
- Support the nursing team in call center operations and prescription management as directed.
- Professional Development (5%)
- Maintain licensure through ongoing education and professional development activities.
- Contribute to committees and initiatives as assigned.
- Perform additional duties as required to support the department's objectives.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing and current licensure as a Registered Nurse.
- A minimum of six months of nursing experience.
- Experience in outpatient or ambulatory care settings is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Current CPR certification is required.
- Strong organizational skills and proficiency in basic computer applications, including Word and Excel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- Bilingual proficiency in Haitian-Creole is advantageous.
