KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Deliver counseling services to participants in the Substance Use Disorder program.

2. Timely completion of intake assessments, treatment plans, evaluations, and discharge summaries in accordance with established protocols.

3. Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions regularly, including family therapy as needed.

4. Utilize ASAM criteria for evaluations at the onset and during each treatment planning session.

5. Ensure all documentation is completed punctually as per the guidelines outlined in the policy manual.

6. Mandate weekly urine drug screenings for all participants.

7. Assist clients in applying for BHSI if they lack insurance coverage.

8. Collaborate with transportation services to arrange bus passes for clients attending the facility.

9. Work in conjunction with psychiatrists for evaluations, suboxone prescriptions, and case consultations.

10. Maintain close communication with supervisors to fulfill required supervision hours and case discussions.

11. Ensure all records and data comply with APM, city, state, and federal regulations.

12. Make referrals to appropriate treatment levels based on ASAM guidelines.

13. Foster strong relationships with community agencies, multidisciplinary teams, and government organizations.

14. Maintain ongoing communication with other treatment facilities, primary care providers, hospitals, educational institutions, and legal authorities as necessary.

15. Manage a caseload deemed appropriate by the supervisor in a full-time capacity.

16. Engage in interdisciplinary team meetings as clinically required.

17. Participate in continuing education and mandatory training sessions.

18. Ensure all client charts are current and accurate.

19. Actively contribute to the growth and development of the program.

20. Collaborate closely with the Clinical Director to set and achieve quarterly objectives.

21. Provide training and supervision for new counselors as the program expands.

22. Submit updated background checks and clearances prior to the start date.

23. Undertake additional program-related tasks as assigned by the Clinical Director.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

· Commitment to serving individuals with substance use challenges.

· Ability to provide compassionate support while maintaining professional boundaries.

· Self-driven and proactive in developing and enhancing the Substance Use Disorder program under the Director's guidance.

· Capability to initiate collaboration with various community resources, agencies, and the judicial system.

· Represent the APM Substance Use Disorder program with integrity and enthusiasm.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in human services or a related field with at least one year of experience working with clients in rehabilitation, social services, or mental health settings.
  • CAC or CDAC certification or eligibility.
  • Completion of ASAM training.
  • Training in Motivational Interviewing.
  • Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) is preferred.
  • Competence in DAP documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
  • Experience in leading group therapy sessions.
  • Familiarity with medication-assisted treatment populations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
