POSITION SUMMARY:
The Certified Peer Specialist plays a vital role in advancing PATH's mission by effectively supporting individuals in their recovery journey. This position involves assisting program participants in their personal recovery processes and fostering a community environment that encourages recovery. Utilizing personal recovery experiences, the Certified Peer Specialist will inspire self-determination and engagement in meaningful, community-integrated activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Relevant Experience: Lived Experience.
- Certification approved by DBH for the provision of peer services.
- COVID-19 vaccination, or a willingness to receive the vaccine is required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Facilitate training and orientation for new staff to foster understanding and acceptance of recovery concepts and to promote a supportive peer culture.
- Educate individuals receiving services about the principles of recovery.
- Encourage and accompany individuals to recovery-focused training sessions.
- Share personal recovery experiences to inspire others.
- Model and advocate for self-advocacy.
- Engage actively with individuals in services, including outreach visits to their homes, crisis centers, or outpatient facilities.
