Position Overview

The E3 Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting the design managers of the Nimitz (CVN68) and Ford (CVN78) Class Aircraft Carriers, as well as the Warfare System Engineering Manager. This role is centered around being the foremost authority on electromagnetic environmental effects (E3) concerning systems installed on aircraft carriers. Occasional travel may be required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary authority on E3 for systems installed on aircraft carriers.
  • Offer technical guidance and evaluate risks associated with technical decisions for the Nimitz and Ford Class Ship Design Managers and System Engineering Manager.
  • Conduct engineering evaluations, research, and problem-solving based on operational experience with Nimitz and Ford Class vessels. Respond to technical assistance requests and adjudications.
  • Participate in and coordinate technical approval letters for Ship Alterations and Technical Assessment Team reviews for Ship Change Documents.
  • Review Technical Feedback Reports for Planned Maintenance System changes requiring Designated Technical Representative evaluations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in E3 Engineering.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Navy or Coast Guard vessels.
  • Strong technical and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with U.S. Navy Nuclear Powered Vessels.
  • Background in shipyard operations or support roles at Naval Warfare Centers.
  • Experience collaborating with program managers in an engineering capacity.
  • Knowledge of warfare systems.

Security Clearance:

  • Must hold a current and active U.S. Government Secret Security clearance.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to remain stationary for 50% of the time.
  • Frequent communication with colleagues and management, which may involve delivering presentations.
  • Regular operation of computers and office productivity equipment.
