Job Summary

Millard Lumber Inc. is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance department, you will be responsible for performing repairs, preventative maintenance, and installation of production machinery, including structures and grounds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by performing preventative maintenance tasks, locating sources of problems using hand and power tools, and determining wear, replacing worn, defective parts, or other changes needed to accordance with blueprints, schematic drawings, operations manual, and manufacturer's specifications.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory levels, anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies, placing and expediting orders, and verifying receipt. Fabricate repair parts using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
  • Equipment Testing: Run equipment to test operations following equipment upgrades, modifications, and new installations. Provide essential documentation (PM's, work orders, etc.) and complete research for root cause analysis when needed.
  • Collaboration and Training: Work directly with maintenance and other supervisors, assist line operators and staff, train and demonstrate equipment functions and features to machine operators and other personnel, and maintain continuity among all work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Grounds Keeping: Provide grounds keeping services such as snow removal and landscaping. Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties and responsibilities as required and assigned.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years' experience in maintenance mechanic or in a related field.
  • Skills: Prior experience operating a forklift, LOTO (Lock out Tag Out), and machine guards. Experience with various hand/power tools, tape measures, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Other Requirements: Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical. Able to work night shift and work additional operating hours/days (weekends) and on-call availability. Maintenance of regular attendance.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of PLC's, AC/DC motors, and drives, and variance on volts 3-phase power.
  • Skills: Knowledge of basic math, reading, and writing skills. Able to assess and function effectively in an ever-changing environment.
  • Abilities: Detailed-oriented with the ability to work under work pressure to complete assigned tasks under stressful situations. Ability to communicate effectively. Superior problem-solving abilities along with a can-do attitude.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
  • Work Environment: Work is in a warehouse setting, subject to temperature variations, hazardous chemicals, mechanical parts, increased noise levels, and dust.
  • Physical Requirements: Employee must have clear, close vision for reading and computer work. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, balance, stoop, grasp, talk, hear, and operate a computer keyboard. Job may require reaching at or above shoulder level and below waist. Will occasionally lift/push/pull up to 75 pounds.
