About the Role:

This opportunity is with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. This role is situated in a dynamic environment and reports directly to the VP of Enterprise Technology (Chief Technology Officer). The primary responsibility of this position is to define, develop, and execute the overarching technology vision and roadmap for the enterprise.

The Chief Architect will lead a senior team of architects across the organization, focusing on the design, documentation, and delivery of the target architecture for our products, platforms, services, infrastructure, applications, and data.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic guidance and collaborate with executive and senior leadership to cultivate effective partnerships, executing a unified vision while identifying data-driven risks and opportunities.
  • Develop and sustain a comprehensive enterprise architecture strategy that aligns with the organization's business objectives.
  • Articulate and disseminate the target enterprise architecture and its components, encompassing people, processes, data, and technology.
  • Remain informed about emerging technologies and industry trends to ensure the architecture is innovative and resilient.
  • Establish and uphold a robust architecture governance framework, including standards, guidelines, and processes.
  • Lead a team to assess and evaluate proposed technology initiatives against the enterprise architecture.
  • Ensure adherence to industry standards and best practices in enterprise architecture.
  • Guide a team of senior technologists and architects in the design, documentation, and delivery of the enterprise architecture.
  • Collaborate with the broader technology organization to implement the enterprise architecture effectively.
  • Design and deliver training programs to educate stakeholders on the enterprise architecture.
  • Identify and implement tools and technologies to enhance architecture management.
  • Work closely with business leaders to understand their needs and ensure the enterprise architecture supports their strategic objectives.
  • Effectively communicate the enterprise architecture vision and strategy to all stakeholders.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across technology and business units.
  • Promote a culture where employees embody and reinforce FirstEnergy's values and feel empowered.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field is required; a master's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience with increasing levels of responsibility and leadership is essential, particularly in enterprise architecture or a related domain.
  • Strong comprehension of IT infrastructure, applications, data management, and security principles.
  • Experience in leading and mentoring a team of architects.
  • Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks and methodologies (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman Framework).
