Job Title: Emergency Medical Technician

About the Role:

Symbiosis, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to join our team. As an EMT with Symbiosis, Inc., you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and transportation services in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide EMT shift coverage based on call volume needs.
  • Respond to instructions from dispatch and drive the emergency vehicle to specified locations.
  • Determine the nature and extent of illness or injury, or magnitude of catastrophe, to establish the basic life support procedures needed to be followed.
  • Remove or assist in the removal of victims from vehicles or the scene of an accident or catastrophe, and assist in the transfer of victims to receiving facilities.
  • Take and record a patient's vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, and respiratory rate.
  • Administer prescribed treatment at the site of an emergency, or in specially equipped vehicles, performing activities such as first aid, immobilization of injuries, application of splints, administration of oxygen, treatment of minor wounds or abrasions, or administration of basic life support procedures.
  • Assist admitting and billing personnel to obtain and record information related to the patient's vital statistics and to establish the necessity for medical transportation.
  • Complete field care report, patient billing/trip ticket, and daily driver's unit checkout form.
  • Assist with equipment, medication, and supply inventory management.
  • Participate in on-call coverage.

Requirements:

  • California state EMT card required.
  • American Heart Association or Red Cross Healthcare Provider CPR Certification required.
  • CA driver's license required and must have an excellent driving record.
  • Medical Examiner's Certificate required.
  • Ambulance Driver's Certificate (ADC) required.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Knowledge of modern EMS principles, procedures, techniques, and equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Reading, writing, comprehension, and basic mathematical skills are required.
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to solve problems.
  • Must maintain calm in stressful and chaotic situations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and lifting.
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds at times with or without assistance.
