Position Overview:

We are in search of a dedicated and experienced Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to become a vital member of our Surgical Oncology Department. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in surgical veterinary practices, particularly in monitoring patients under general anesthesia within a dynamic environment, and will be committed to delivering exceptional care to both animals and their owners.

Compensation:

Credentialed Veterinary Technicians can expect a competitive rate of $35.00, with variations based on education, experience, credentials, location, practice nature, schedule, and additional responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in conducting physical examinations and gathering patient histories.
  • Exhibit strong communication skills while compassionately interacting with and educating clients.
  • Manage medical records, reports, and correspondence efficiently.
  • Prepare surgical environments and equipment for procedures.
  • Support veterinarians during surgical operations, including patient monitoring, anesthesia administration, and surgical instrument preparation.
  • Monitor patients under general anesthesia, observing vital signs such as heart rate, end-tidal carbon dioxide, respiratory rate, blood pressure, and temperature.
  • Recognize and promptly respond to changes in patient status, ensuring safety and well-being.
  • Document anesthesia protocols, patient information, and vital signs accurately.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of medications administered and any complications encountered during procedures.
  • Ensure meticulous documentation of anesthesia during surgical operations.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in scheduling and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting.
  • Collaborate with the veterinary team to maintain a safe and sterile surgical environment.

Collaboration:

Work in close coordination with doctors and team members to enhance patient care and communicate effectively regarding anesthesia concerns and patient status.

Essential Skills:

  • Venipuncture and catheter placement.
  • Radiology and anesthesia monitoring.
  • Laboratory work and pharmacology.
  • Patient recovery and compassionate care for hospitalized animals.
  • Ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment.
  • Restraint techniques and obtaining patient vitals.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough medical records.
  • Assist doctors and technical staff with patient care as required.
  • Uphold cleanliness in the work environment to adhere to infectious disease protocols.
  • Manage inventory and supplies for procedures and patient care.

Qualifications:

  • Current and valid Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and common veterinary conditions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards animals and their owners.
  • Knowledge and experience in handling and administering various medications while following safety protocols.
