Job Overview

Position Summary: Foundation Communities is a dedicated nonprofit organization focused on providing affordable housing and community services. With over 20 housing communities, FC also operates two Prosper Centers where a committed team of staff and volunteers offer a variety of complimentary community services, including tax assistance, health insurance enrollment, financial wellness programs, and support for college students, reaching over 15,000 individuals annually. During peak tax season, additional tax preparation services are provided at multiple community locations.

The Client Services Specialist is vital in assisting families in Central Texas achieve financial stability, collaborating with both the Tax Help and Health Coverage teams. During the tax season, this role oversees tax services at one of the Prosper Centers or designated tax sites, guiding volunteers and seasonal staff to ensure precise and efficient tax preparation for over 20,000 households. In the off-season, the Client Services Specialist directly engages with community members to facilitate their enrollment in health insurance through the federal Marketplace. During the Open Enrollment period, they manage health enrollment services, supporting volunteers and seasonal staff to deliver essential enrollment assistance to numerous Central Texans lacking health insurance access.

Key Responsibilities:

  • From May to October (Health Coverage Year-Round):
    • Utilize a trauma-informed approach to assist clients in enrolling in health insurance and navigating their coverage.
    • Maintain relevant certifications (training provided).
    • Accurately collect and input data in a timely manner.
    • Gather client stories as necessary.
    • Prepare for Open Enrollment activities.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • From November to April (Open Enrollment and Tax Season):
    • Supervise on-site services to ensure effective, client-centered service delivery.
    • Guarantee exceptional customer service across programs.
    • Provide leadership and support to volunteers and tax site personnel.
    • Maintain relevant certifications (training provided).
    • Execute other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Exceptional customer service skills for clients with diverse identities and needs.
  • Ability to collaborate with staff, volunteers, and clients from various backgrounds.
  • Experience engaging with underserved populations.

  • Flexibility, quick learning, and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.

  • Completion of all required training and certifications (training provided at the start of employment and annually).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fluency in English and proficiency in another language (Spanish, Arabic, or Pashto preferred).

Work Environment:
Typical office setting. The role involves active engagement, requiring standing and walking for a portion of the time. The work environment is generally favorable, with adequate lighting and temperature control, free from hazardous conditions.

Physical Demands:
Standard office-related activities, including remaining seated with occasional standing and walking.

Compensation:
$25/hour
