The Role: We are seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to fill the position of Surgical Coordination Specialist.

As a Surgical Coordination Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to ensure that all surgical procedures for patients are properly authorized and that their records are meticulously maintained. This role involves:

  • Communicating with insurance providers to secure necessary authorizations.
  • Verifying patient details and obtaining any missing information.
  • Cross-training in related areas to support team functions.

Your contributions will be essential in enhancing the patient experience at OCLI and aiding our medical professionals in diagnosing and treating ocular conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure timely acquisition of all authorizations and pre-certifications to facilitate reimbursement.
  • Engage with insurance companies through various communication methods to manage surgical authorizations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance requirements, medical terminology, and relevant coding.
  • Review patient records and physician documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Coordinate surgical paperwork and authorization details with appropriate facilities and departments.
  • Communicate any unusual circumstances regarding patient insurance benefits to relevant parties.
  • Provide support in other areas, including front desk operations, as needed.
  • Uphold a professional demeanor with patients, physicians, and colleagues.
  • Adhere to strict patient confidentiality protocols.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Outgoing personality with a passion for patient interaction.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality service and respond promptly to patient needs.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, especially in high-pressure situations.
  • Positive attitude and ability to thrive in collaborative settings.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing circumstances.
  • Knowledge of ocular pharmacology is advantageous but not mandatory.
