Position Overview:
The Certified Surgical Technologist is responsible for managing the instruments, supplies, and equipment essential for surgical operations.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Verify the availability of necessary supplies and equipment for surgical procedures.
2. Prepare self and surgical team members by scrubbing, gowning, and gloving.
3. Organize a sterile table with required instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications, ensuring all items are in optimal condition.
4. Conduct appropriate counts with the circulator before the operation and prior to closing the incision.
5. Assist in draping the sterile field.
6. Provide instruments, retractors, sutures, and other items to the surgeon during the procedure.
7. Exhibit the ability to anticipate the needs of the surgical team.
8. Uphold the highest standards of sterile technique throughout the procedure.
9. Safely and appropriately manage surgical specimens.
10. Adhere to safety protocols regarding sharps and medications.

Physical and Sensory Requirements:
Ability to sit for up to 1 hour, stand for up to 8 hours (potentially 6 hours continuously), and walk for 8-10 hours (up to 2 hours at a time). Frequent manual dexterity is required for handling and twisting/turning. Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 10 pounds consistently and up to 25 pounds frequently. Ability to push objects weighing over 100 pounds is also necessary. Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching above shoulder level are required. Quick movement and response capabilities are essential. Must possess hearing abilities for normal conversation and varying frequencies, as well as visual acuity for general, near, far, color, and peripheral vision, including depth perception.

Education:
Completion of an accredited surgical technology program or equivalent experience is required. Certification as a surgical technologist is mandatory. Acceptable certifications include the CST credential from the NBSTSA or the TS-C credential from the NCCT.

Training and Experience:
A structured orientation lasting 4-6 weeks in the surgical suite will be provided by a Clinical Specialist, along with ongoing in-service training and hands-on experiences with designated preceptors. Customized orientation will be available for all surgical specialties.

Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position with day shifts as scheduled, totaling 40 hours per week.
