Controller Job Description

Community Health Care is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to providing quality healthcare to underserved patients in Pierce County. We are seeking a skilled Controller to join our team and contribute to our mission of delivering exceptional healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all accounting operations, including billing and collections, financial statements, general ledger, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, grant compliance, revenue recognition, and various analyses.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Implement and maintain consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Assess current accounting operations, offer recommendations for improvement, and implement new processes.
  • Create, maintain, and coordinate with department managers on operating budgets based on historical data and future trend analysis.
  • Coordinate and prepare internal and external financial statements.
  • Coordinate activities of external auditors.
  • Coordinate with the senior grant accountant to maintain Federal budgets and financial reporting requirements.
  • Provide recommendations to the CFO to strategically enhance the financial performance of the Company.
  • Prepare and provide management with information vital to the decision-making process.
  • Ensure that all State tax returns and required renewals are filed on a timely basis.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting/Finance or a closely related field.
  • 8 years' experience in accounting and 2 years supervisory experience.
  • Proven experience as a Controller or a similar management role.
  • Experience with a computerized accounting system.
  • Equivalent experience and education may be substituted.
Skills:
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing and directing an accounting team.
  • An analytical mind with a strategic ability.
  • Project management experience.
