Cathcart Rail is a leading freight rail services and transportation company with a strong presence in the industry. We operate a large railcar services network, encompassing 18 repair facilities and over 75 field services locations, as well as a rail services division that operates three short line railroads and a dozen contract switching and transloading sites.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to fill the role of Bench GM of Field Services. As a Business-Leader-In-Training, you will develop skills and experience to manage and lead a geographic territory in accordance with the standards of the organization. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting corporate objectives and driving expectations
  • Ensuring safety, quality, and production KPIs/metrics are being met
  • Leading by example, coaching, and developing management teams centered around Cathcart's core values of Safety, Quality, and Integrity
  • Focus on continuous improvement in all areas of site management
  • Developing and proposing improvement plans for senior leadership consideration
  • Participating in financial stewardship for directed facilities, including cost management and P&L review
  • Ensuring companywide programs, policies, and procedures are implemented effectively within directed sites
  • Coordinating internal and external resources as needed to provide Team Member training, endeavor for efficiency improvements, and reduce quality non-conformances
  • Responsible for the training and development of employees and supervisors while improving their own strategic skills and abilities in preparation for a future leadership assignment
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field
  • At least five plus (5+) years minimum experience required in an operations or heavy manufacturing environment
  • Three (3+) years minimum of successful supervisory or management experience with well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to run a successful operation
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate strategies into operation objectives and projects
  • Effective use of standard office computer technology such as databases, word processing, ERP, and reporting systems
  • Requires the ability to manage and prioritize multiple goals
  • Ability to effectively present information to broad groups of audience, including senior management and external customers
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
