Position: Career Navigator - Workforce Development

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Career Navigator is dedicated to assisting program participants through comprehensive vocational evaluations and case management services, ensuring effective connections to relevant training initiatives and successful job placements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establishes rapport with participants to accurately identify barriers and strengths, assessing suitability for internal and external workforce development opportunities.
  • Delivers holistic case management support, connecting participants with community resources to address and overcome obstacles.
  • Handles administrative tasks related to monitoring training program enrollment, managing stipend distributions, and facilitating access to necessary resources.
  • Ensures effective communication between participants and instructors to promote successful course completion and certification achievement.
  • Engages in job placement activities, offering essential services such as interview preparation, professional attire guidance, resume enhancement, and other necessary support.
  • Assists participants in navigating training platforms by implementing educational curricula and assigning user roles.
  • Guides all participants in creating Individualized Vocational Plans (IVPs) tailored to their educational and training aspirations, including both short-term and long-term career objectives.
  • Accurately documents all interactions with participants in the software database for accessibility by other staff members.
  • Contributes to the delivery of assigned instructional courses, collaborating on key curriculum elements focused on employment skills and competencies.
  • Supports recruitment initiatives through active participation in community outreach events.
  • Utilizes the case management system to conduct participant intake and refer them to training programs and employment support services.
  • Acts as a feedback conduit to training components of the workforce development system, aiming to enhance client readiness and alignment with employer expectations.
  • Manages the dismissal process for clients from the program due to non-compliance, loss of contact, or refusal of further services.
  • Participates in team meetings and provides assistance to colleagues as needed.
  • Represents the organization's mission effectively.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A Bachelor's degree in human services, education, or a closely related field is required.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in career development, job coaching, job placement, or recruitment is essential.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:

  • A valid and unrestricted driver's license is required, along with appropriate insurance as per state regulations.

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint; adept at using web browsers for information retrieval.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Sedentary Role

Occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds, with infrequent walking and standing required. Frequent use of hands and fingers for handling objects, controls, and buttons.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

Travel is defined as movement within the organization's service areas. Long-distance travel, including overnight stays, may be necessary but will typically be prearranged. Unplanned travel may occur. Employees must have reliable transportation for positions requiring travel.

Travel may account for up to 25% of working hours.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Office Setting

General office environment with minimal exposure to mechanical parts, humidity, fumes, airborne particles, or outdoor weather conditions. Noise levels are generally low.
