Work Schedule:

Key Responsibilities:

In collaboration with the Program Supervisor, Assistant Teachers, Related Service Staff, parents/guardians, and other professionals, the Educational Support Specialist will design and execute personalized educational and behavioral strategies for each student. Specific duties include:

  • Creating Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student.
  • Selecting and utilizing appropriate teaching materials and methods to meet educational objectives across all necessary subjects.
  • Preparing and delivering quarterly report cards, mid-quarter evaluations, and IEP progress narratives.
  • Maintaining effective communication with students' families, relevant staff, and necessary professionals.
  • Managing classroom budgets and providing expenditure reports to the supervisor.
  • Assessing students' academic and behavioral performance and making necessary adjustments to programs.
  • Choosing suitable instructional resources and techniques to fulfill IEP goals across all required subjects.
  • Arranging classroom layout and resources to foster a conducive learning atmosphere.
  • Supervising students throughout the day to ensure their safety, including during transportation and recreational activities.
  • Implementing individual and group behavior management strategies.

Qualifications:

What the Educational Support Specialist brings to the team:

  • A Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Possession of a Provisional Certificate in special education at the appropriate level or content area is essential.
  • Experience in special education or a related field is preferred.
  • Familiarity with construction and/or vocational experience is a plus.
