Position Overview:


Under the guidance of a supervising Anesthesiologist, the Anesthesia Nurse Specialist is responsible for administering both general and regional anesthesia across a variety of surgical, obstetric, and other medical procedures requiring anesthesia services. This role caters to patients spanning all age demographics, including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations, adhering to the highest standards of care set forth by the organization.

Key responsibilities include:

- Effective airway management and fluid balance maintenance.
- Monitoring patient conditions and responding to emergencies related to airway management and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
- Management of patients requiring ventilatory support.


Core Responsibilities:
- Adhere to Kaiser Permanente's policies, procedures, and relevant laws.
- Ensure compliance with organizational standards and regulations (i.e., TJC, Title 22, and regional requirements).
- Conduct thorough pre-operative evaluations through patient interviews and examinations.
- Collaborate with the anesthesiologist to determine the most suitable anesthetic based on the pre-operative assessment.

- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the cognitive, physical, emotional, and developmental needs of patients across all age groups.

- Monitor patients throughout the surgical process and assess their post-operative condition, taking necessary actions to ensure stability.
- Maintain accurate records of controlled substances in line with departmental protocols.
- Foster positive relationships with patients, families, and colleagues, ensuring a cooperative environment.
- May undertake additional duties as permitted by licensure and certification.

Graduation from an accredited Nurse Anesthesia educational program recognized by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs and Schools.

Licenses and Certifications

- Registered Nurse License (California)
- Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (California)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification
- Basic Life Support Certification
- National Provider Identifier
- Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist National Certification

Additional Qualifications:


Experience in administering anesthesia for significant procedures that require extensive monitoring and fluid, blood, and electrolyte management for diverse patient age groups.

CRNAs must exhibit both technical and professional skills, along with proficiency in all relevant techniques and procedures as defined by the State of California Department of Consumer Affairs.

Additional competencies in documentation, equipment knowledge, productivity, communication, and staff development are essential.


Work Environment:
- Full-time position with variable shifts.
- Regular employee status within the nursing category.
- Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.
