Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at the Cancer Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting physicians and nurses in providing patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist patients and communicate with Physicians to obtain prescription renewals as needed.
- Answer the telephone in the treatment area and assist staff in scheduling treatments.
- Clean and sterilize designated equipment after use.
- Assist physicians with procedures (e.g. GI procedures, all medical exams).
- Assist patients with obtaining food, toileting, ambulating and maintaining comfort.
- Ensure completion of patient charges as per policy.
- Ensure exam rooms and treatment areas are cleaned after each patient leaves and prepared for the next patient. Assist with light housekeeping duties which include spills.
- Stock exam room/treatment rooms with medical supplies, linen, and designated chart forms. Notify the Office Manager when supplies are low.
- Ensure chart is available, with relevant lab work and test reports if indicated, for the physician when the physician sees the patient.
- Assist with maintaining patient flow to and from exam rooms and treatment areas. Assist in escorting patients and specimens throughout the facility.
- Obtain vital signs, weights, and EKGs when needed, and all other tests within the scope of the practice. Assist with blood collection/phlebotomy as needed.
Requirements:
To qualify, you must have a High School Diploma or the equivalent. Completion of a Medical Assistant Program from an accredited institution OR upon hire hold a current medical assistant Certification from a Nationally Recognized accredited institution (such as American Association of Medical Assistant(AAMA); American Medical Technologies (AMT); National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT); National Healthcare Association (NHA)).
Preferred Qualifications:
MA experience preferred. EKG and/or Spirometry experience preferred. Second language mastery.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $54,720.57 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
