Position Summary
The Accounting Manager plays a vital role within our finance team, overseeing the accounting functions for properties owned by Federal Realty. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Accounting, this position leads a team dedicated to property accounting for a diverse portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor a team of Senior Accountants in managing property accounting for assigned assets, ensuring alignment with operational and asset management teams.
  • Oversee the month-end closing process for a portfolio, including the review and posting of journal entries, and ensuring the accuracy of accruals and classifications.
  • Manage various closing activities, including monthly expense and income accruals, ensuring compliance with established guidelines.
  • Conduct variance analyses on property financial statements, collaborating with the operations team to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Facilitate the onboarding of new property acquisitions, ensuring a seamless transition and accuracy in accounting practices.
  • Supervise quarterly general ledger account reconciliations to maintain accuracy and timeliness.
  • Oversee sales and use tax filings, ensuring compliance with state regulations and managing audits as necessary.
  • Ensure timely completion of quarterly partner distributions and coordinate various analyses to support financial data accuracy.
  • Act as the primary liaison with auditors for financial statement and internal control audits, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Manage special projects and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • CPA certification is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in commercial property accounting, with a preference for retail property knowledge.
  • 2-3 years of experience in a management role.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and advanced analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented, with a proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and a proactive, results-oriented approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service across all organizational levels.
