Accounts Receivable Specialist Job Description

Saul Centers, Inc. is a self-managed, self-administered equity real estate investment trust, formed in 1993. Our company operates and manages a real estate portfolio of 61 community and neighborhood shopping center and office properties, totaling approximately 9.8 million square feet of leasable area.

Job Summary

The Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for compiling and maintaining accounts receivable records by performing the following duties:

  • Process daily lockboxes
  • Monitor and record tenant cash receipts
  • Assist property accountants and/or lease analysts with moving checks to correct tenant accounts
  • Monitor and input tenant sales for percentage rent income billing
  • Post monthly sales reports for management review
  • Apply cash to tenant charges throughout the portfolio
  • Assist in preparing and sending out monthly courtesy statements
  • Calculate and post monthly management fee expense
  • Calculate and post late fees and interest charges to tenant accounts
  • Post utility recovery billings to tenant accounts
  • Calculate utility recovery accruals throughout the portfolio
  • Complete property accounting duties for a limited number of properties and tenants
  • Assist in monthly closings
  • Assist with opening, sorting, and distributing mail within the accounting department
  • Assist the collections department with ad-hoc requests
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of Yardi software is desirable
  • Possession of strong organizational skills
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel spreadsheet skills, including Pivot Tables and VLookup
  • Strong communication, self-confidence, and ability to evaluate and articulate decisions in a concise, coherent fashion
  • Demonstrated integrity and the ability to communicate a clear set of values and high standards
  • Proactive, collaborative, and team-oriented professional
  • Results-oriented and a commitment to excellence
  • Strong attention to detail in composing, typing, and proofing materials, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines
  • Capability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands

Compensation

The actual base pay offered is determined by several variables, including the applicant's qualifications for the position, years of relevant experience, distinctive skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held. Base pay is one component of Saul Centers, Inc.'s total compensation package, which also includes access to or eligibility for healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, bonus plans, and more.
