Key Responsibilities of the Senior Revenue Cycle Specialist - Medicaid Collections

  • Analyze trends, perform follow-ups, and conduct root cause assessments on unpaid and underpaid Medicaid and managed care insurance claims.
  • Investigate, appeal, and resolve claim rejections, underpayments, and denials in accordance with established policies and procedures, which may include rebilling, correcting coding, contacting payers or clinics, and utilizing payer portals.
  • Address issues related to patient coordination of benefits (COB), demographic inconsistencies, and Medicare/Medicaid eligibility.
  • Identify and correct billing discrepancies based on updates from Medicaid provider manuals and bulletins.

Required Skills for the Senior Revenue Cycle Specialist - Medicaid Collections

  • Experience with Medicaid and Medicare payers is essential.
  • Preferred background in healthcare revenue cycle management, medical billing, and collections (3-5 years+).
  • At least 2 years of experience with general accounting, transactions, or medical billing systems is preferred.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is advantageous.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • An Associate's or Bachelor's degree is preferred.
