Mechanical Systems Engineer

Role Summary
Blue Origin is seeking a Mechanical Systems Engineer to support the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering and experience with aerospace systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical systems for New Glenn, including primary flight control actuators and aerospace hydraulic system components
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical systems with other spacecraft components
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications and test procedures
- Contribute to the development of the New Glenn product development lifecycle, including concept definition, architecture, requirements capture and development, implementation, verification, system integration, qualification, and release
Requirements
- B.S. degree or higher in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
- 1 year of proven experience in aerospace or equivalent type mechanical systems elements within aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicles
- Strong mechanical design and integration skills using 3D modeling tools
- Excellent technical written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
Preferred Qualifications
- 2-5 years of recent aerospace or equivalent type mechanical systems elements within aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicles
- 2+ years direct project management experience, including schedule, cost, risk, performance, change and configuration management, and supplier relations
- Experience across the full product development lifecycle, including concept definition, architecture, requirements capture and development, implementation, verification, system integration, qualification, and release
