Job Title: Field Superintendent

Sundt is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Field Superintendent to join our team. As a Field Superintendent, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day construction activities, including supervision of craft employees and subcontractors. You will schedule field activities in coordination with the project schedule and ensure safety, production goals, quality control, and cost control.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in or conduct review of shop drawings and design conflicts, as well as RFI review and implementation.
  • Manage Quality Control and Safety responsibilities, as well as subcontractor coordination and oversight.
  • Assist in or manage the selection of equipment, construction methods, and sequencing of operations.
  • Assist with or conduct subcontractor meetings.
  • Assist with or manage the implementation of LEAN planning.
  • Conduct risk management analysis on a daily basis and work with project leaders to ensure timely mitigation and documentation.
  • Demonstrate competency in understanding environmental control processes for the project and take corrective action when necessary.
  • Emphasize a culture of safety throughout the project and ensure the safety plan is executed relentlessly.
  • Enforce the project management plan to ensure activities in the field are consistent with plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure project control activities and costs are managed daily and that appropriate actions are taken to ensure consistent deliverables and a successful project execution.
  • On self-perform projects, acquire, develop, and manage craft field teams, including establishing and communicating performance expectations, providing positive and constructive feedback, determining training and development needs, and conducting on-the-job training to ensure relentless execution of the project.
  • Oversee, direct, and coordinate manpower, equipment, material, and subcontract activities in accordance with the project schedule.
  • Participate in business development and preconstruction activities as directed.
  • Prepare and maintain a detailed schedule for specific areas of responsibility.
  • Review time sheets, quantity reporting, and daily costs for proper preparation and coding.
  • Complete all daily reporting requirements in a timely and accurate manner, consistent with the Sundt Management System (SMS).
Requirements:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Minimum of two years supervisory experience in similar construction technology, methods, equipment, tools, and work procedures required.
  • Understanding of construction scheduling and cost control and the ability to control and supervise employees and subcontractors is essential.
